THE FORGOTTEN DISASTER
For Years there has been civil strife in Mindanao, leading to thousands of displaced people and lack of inward investment. Mindanao is unlike the rest of the Philippines because of this ongoing violence and poor infrastructure, but we never hear about it. There is never an outcry of sympathy in the UK and aid does not come.
My name is Ray Brocklesby, I moved to Mindanao in 2012 and I was so impressed with the welcome I received and the kindness and generosity of the people that I felt I needed to put something back into the community. This website is part of my attempt to highlight the problems that exist there and to raise money to improve life for everyone.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
- First off, the easiest thing you can do is help spread the word. You probably came to this site through a link on FaceBook. Simply repost the link and help spread the word – this costs you nothing. If all of my friends reposted all of my posts to all of their friends, then we would be reaching a lot of people.
- Consider making a small donation. The Tagum Food Bank can buy a lot of rice for just a couple of pounds. Every small donation counts and every penny goes to aid, there are no expenses deducted.
- Best of all, consider holding some sort of fund raising event with your friends.
